区别非常简单.

1 no matter + 疑问代词/ 疑问副词 + 主语 + 谓语动词 （+ 其他成分）

No matter what you do, I will support you.

No matter how old you are, you can go on learning.

2 even though + 句子 （从句）,+ 句子 （主句）

Even though he is very busy today, he will come to play football with us.

I will do the work for you even though I am not quite willing to.

She should forgive herself _NO MATTER___ how awful she thought she had been

== EVEN THOUGH she thought she had been very awful, she should forgive herself.

== She should forgive herself EVEN THOUGH she thought she had been very awful.
