1998年成军于加拿大蒙特利尔，由主唱Pierre Bouvier、双吉它手Jeff Stinco及Sebastien Lefebvre、贝斯手David Desrosiers与鼓手Chuck Comeau组成。2002年的春天，乐队发表了第一张纯正的流行朋克专辑《No Pads，No Helmets，Just Balls...》，几百万张的销量证明了“简单计划”乐队并非等闲之辈。2004年秋天，第二张专辑《Still Not Getting Any...》面世。乐队音乐的多元化得到充分体现。他们找来金牌摇滚制作人Bob Rock担任唱片监制，第一主打单曲“Welcome To MyLife”有着简单易懂的歌词以及琅琅上口的旋律，同时讲述了平凡的人生道理；随后的“Shut Up”则是生猛有力，快速的进行曲式流露出流行朋克的端倪；而“Untitled”则是一首动人的情歌，配合上画面感极强的MV，更是锦上添花。Pop Punk目前越来越受到欧美流行音乐界的追捧，这种音乐代表着年青人的时髦潮流和对生活的态度，而Simple Plan正在成为流行朋克圈中的佼佼者，继而在整个流行乐坛成为新一代的天王。
