巴恩斯 ( James Barnes ) ，美国知名管乐作曲家与教育家。

1949年9月9日出生於美国奥克拉荷马州。现任职於美国堪萨斯大学 ( University of Kansas ) ，教授配器法与作曲。曾於 1978 年及 1981 年分别以其「第一号交响曲」与「阴森景象」 ( Visions Macabre ) 获得美国乐团指导者协会 ( American Bandmasters Association ) 的奥斯特瓦德奖 ( Ostwald Award ) 。另外他亦曾多次获得美国作曲家、作家和出版商协会的作曲奖 ( ASCAP Awards ) 。

巴恩斯曾多次指挥荷兰皇家军乐队 ( Koninklijke Militaire Kapel, KMK ) 及日本东京佼成管乐团 ( Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, TKWO ) 灌录其作品并发行唱片。另外，他在美国、欧洲、澳洲、日本与台湾等地亦以客席管乐指挥的身份参与各式盛会。自 1984 年起，其作品多由美国南方音乐出版公司 ( Southern Music Company, SMC ) 发行。
