Meg Ryan convinces Billy Crystal that girls are pretty darn good at faking orgasms in this delightful romantic comedy classic
When writer Ephron is good, she's very very good, as this witty, dry little romantic comedy of modern manners shows.
Posing the question 'Can a man and woman ever be just friends?', it charts the up-and-down, on-and-off friendship and, ultimately, love affair of uptight Sally Albright (Ryan) and Harry Burns (Crystal), neurotic, Jewish, perennial bachelor. The two first meet at college when they agree to share the driving duties home and find they have absolutely nothing in common. As the years wear on, and their paths cross again, their friendship begins to take on new dimensions as they move through the various stages of twenty and thirty-something angst, marriage and divorce.
Peppered with succinct observations, great gags - director Reiner's mother delivering the 'I'll have what she's having' line in the deli - this is Ephron at her best
