Awiseoldman,ZhiSou,uponseeingthissaidtoYuGong:Youareold;youaretryingtodotheimpossible.YuGongreplied:Yes,IamoldandIwillsoonbedead,butIhavechildren,andwhentheydie,theirchildrenwillcarryon,andthemountainwillgetsmallerandsmaller.”

AndsoYuGongandhisfamilycarriedon,dayafterday,yearafteryear,throughsummerandwinter,untiloneday,Godheardaboutitandwassomovedbyhisdeterminationthathesenthistwosonstotakethetwomountainsaway.

愚公老人的房子前面有两座大山。这给他带来了极大的不便。所以有一天他对他的家人说:“我决定移走那些山。”他的妻子说:“这不可能。我们和他们住在一起很久了。就让我们忍着吧。”

但是老人说服了他的孩子们来帮助他。

第二天，他们开始用锄头和篮子挖土，把土拖到很远的海边。他们日复一日地挖着。

智者智叟见此，对愚公说:“你老了;你在尝试做不可能的事。”愚公回答说:“是的，我老了，我很快就要死了，但我有孩子，当他们死了，他们的孩子会继续，山会变得越来越小。”

愚公和他的家人就这样日复一日，年复一年，熬过了夏天和冬天，直到有一天，上帝听说了这件事，被他的决心所感动，他派他的两个儿子去把两座山带走。

这个故事的寓意是，只要有决心，任何事情都能实现。
