其实这首歌的作者英国作曲家兼戏剧家T.H.Bayly，原名是《The Long Ago》，1843年，费城杂志在发表Bayly的诗歌和歌曲的时候，将曲名改成了现在的《Long Long Ago》。在那时，这首歌是美国最流行的歌曲，在老一代的美国人中是家喻户晓的。当时最有影响的曲谱出版社埃普顿公司出版的《101 Best Songs》中就收录了这首歌。现在，100多年过去了，而在这100多年间，翻唱这首歌的歌手不计其数，配乐和风格从爵士乐到儿歌，无一领域不涉及。
