In China, the bull is a symbol of selfless dedication and hard work. When we praise a person we can say "niu". When the stock market is constantly rising, we call it a bull market. So in China, the bull is on behalf of a commendatory meaning.

While in western culture, it seems that bull is not popular, and it is often used as a symbol of derogatory sense. For example, when someone is near his old age, we can say “The black bull has trod/trampled on his foot”； when someone is making troubles，we can say “He is a bull in a china shop” However ，there is also one exception，In western culture，bull also represents frank and perseverance.
